My Response on Characters in "The Kings 2 Hearts"
from left to right: Kim Bong Gu, Kim Hang Ah, Lee Jae Ha, Lee Jae Shin (Jae Ha'a lil sist), Eun Shi Kyung. |
The King 2 Heart is a Korean drama which was broadcasted (?) on March 2012, but I has saved that series in my laptop until I watched that in two days in October. Am I too late? :))
This series center on love story between a North Korean soldier, Kim Hang Ah (Ha Ji Won), with a South Korean prince, Lee Jae Ha (Lee Seung Gi). But it also contains political issue between North Korea, South Korea, China, and USA. That is what makes this drama different. Although the action are not as much as in City Hunter, I appreciate the wonderful actors, especially Kim Hang Ah :) Conflicts in this drama are told in medium tempo, neither too fast, nor too slow. So, I can not stop watching this series until end. But now I just want to focus on the characterization in the series.
1. Lee Jae Ha
This royal immature prince becomes suddenly wisdom after his brother die. He accidentally replaces his brother's position as South Korean King and has to face Kim Bong Gu who wants to practice 'devide et impera' among countries includes South Korean. He previously opposed North and South Korean union, but after his brother die he suddenly agree with that. That actually shows how much he loves his brother. As a new king who loves his family, his act of being heavily in love with Hang Ah after replacing his brother position is questioned, whether it is to fulfill his brother wish or it is his own will. However, that's not a big matter.
2. Kim Hang Ah
Hang Ah is a 30-years-old North Korean woman soldier who never had a special relationship with a man before. Until she meets Jae Ha and starts to fall in love because sharing a room with him while WOC training. Ha Ji Won played this character well, but the age difference between Ji Won and Seung Gi can't be hidden :( In the story, she is at the same age as Jae Haa, but I think she is 9 years older than him. I can predict she is much older than Seung Gi before I found the truth.
She becomes a lovely girl since moved to Royal Palace after her tricking engagement. But, her style in short skirt and little hat is too lovely, I think. She was a soldier, so her appearance in lovely style is too shocking. I think she is better in more boyish but still elegant outfits.
3. Kim Bong Gu (John Mayer)
He is the man who is responsible to Jae Ha's brother death and accident which paralyzed Jae Ha's little sister. This character reminds me to Joker in Batman, because he loves doing magical tricks. But actually, as a chief-company with that 'strange' character, he has no power because no one loyal to him (except Bongbong). As Jae Ha said, you have everything but people. So, I predict his company will be bankrupt soon even if Jae Ha did not put him in jail :p
4. Eun Shi Kyung
This character is played by a new artist, Jo Jung Suk. I don't know that he is a new star, that might be because he has good capability in acting or because he acts the cool and flat-face character, Shi Kyung. The annoying moment is when he dead shot by Kim Bong Gu. I do not blame on the acting, but I don't like this predictable death-way storyline. However, I adore the character of Shi Kyung. He is unsual soldier because he is stubborn and brave to oppose his commander. What I like the most is when he says, "Not everyone can be an officer, but why does a prince get special treatment to be an officer?"
