Who got benefits from the idea of school?

That was actually an example analysis from my lecturer to understand one theory in Literary Theories subject. He taught that in several semesters ago, but I'd say it's interesting to be disscussed in my blog. So, guys. Why do you go to school? *monologue*

Some students answered "I go to school to get knowledge". While the others said "I go to school because my mom said school could make finding jobs easier". Which answer satisfied my lecturer?

The second one :p

Why?

He said the first answer was a 'bullshit', that answer was trying to satisfied him but failed. He in contrast said that the second answer was the truth. My opinion was searching for knowledge was only a mere objective of going to school, then at last students who had finished their school would try to find a job. So, those answers were logically correct, but the second one was more appropriate in this context.

Back to the topic,

Then the lecturer explained that knowledge was not only gained from school, even mostly people could get knowledge that was more 'useful' for their life not from school. He was one of people who disagreed that student could be clever only by formal school. Student could be clever even if he/she didn't go to school.

He asked us, "Who benefits from the idea of school?" I answered to my self, that might be government, but there's a power higher than government. Maybe an international organization. Free Mason? :p

Noo, the correct answer in this context is the capital power. Why?

First we have to understand the reason why we go to school. Then we find out both the advantage and disadvantage of school. At last, we have to unpack the omitted objective from government.

Then, we will find the term 'hegemony', which means the government's practice to comfort the student to go to school. Moreover, to embed ideology on people that going to school is a must, the requirement of being the truly citizens. That practice can be seen, for example, from advertisement or parents' advice.

After finishing the school. People will find a job under the control of capital power. They are the employees or say the 'labors' for capital power. What they contribute to the capital is actually much higher than their regular salary. Their contribution gives high value to the capital power instead.

But the Hegemony practice has been embedded in their mind. Thinking that being a labor is not bad because they got regular salary, even pension salary, good work-atmosphere, etc. For example, branded shoes costs much higher than the salary of labor who made that. Where does the money go?

The Labors thank to Karl-marx
Peace, caps power ! ;)
